Uganda, Africa

In 2023 we started a volleyball program for girls 14 and under because there were no programs available to promote confidence and leadership for girls in Rubuguri, Uganda. If girls do not go on to secondary school after primary school their future is very dim. This program has improved their grades and self esteem. With this program they get to travel outside their village which many children never get to do in their entire lifetime. To see the possibilities of a different way of living they are more likely to finish school and make their own choices going forward.

We couldn’t do this without God and donors like you. 2024 & 25 Silver Medalist Uganda Primary Schools National Games.

We are now in 5 primary schools and 1 high school. This program helps in many different areas in the children's lives.

Claire came to us in 2022 she tried out for the volleyball team. She was the youngest player on the team. We noticed her athletic ability. We did not know the struggles she faced for such a young girl and how a program like this would be life changing. We learned about her life and the lives of many young girls in the villages of Uganda. Here is her story in her own words.
DATE OF BIRTH: 4TH AUGUST 2010
AGE: 15 YRS
Freshman
HOBBIES: LEARNING AND PLAYING VOLLEYBALL
FUTURE CAREER: DOCTER
THIS IS MY STORY:
I was born on 4th August 2010 as a second born of our parents in Rubuguri, Uganda. Unfortunately my parents died when we were still young. Me and my sister had to be taken up and raised by MRS.NIWAMANYA STELLA who has been our care taker since then up to now. (Sponsored by a non-profit out of Romania) Before we were sponsored we were in the care of relatives in a very unsafe environment.
I have lived a life of playing volleyball since the program was offered at my primary school up to now. I had picked up the interest in playing the game for very many reasons, one of them is that it has helped me to forget about my problems and reduce stress of thinking about the future, it makes me physically fit and has given me chance to tour to new places in Uganda that I never knew existed.
I wish to continue developing my talent in the game so as to continue being a role model to other young girls in the country of Uganda who think that such games are for only boys.
I expect also to be a volleyball trainer in future or a coach along side my studies if given a chance.
Lastly I want to appreciate the people who have supported my talent in volleyball the entire coaching staff from my primary till now. I promise to continue training hard and being a better player in future.
I remain ATURINDA CLAIRE

Change a Life Forever...

The schools in Uganda have dirt courts if they even have a volleyball program at all. In 2024 we built a cement court for teams to play on so they wouldn't have to play on dirt. It rains a lot in the area of Rubuguri so it was very muddy for days which kept the teams from practicing. Now we can practice all the time.
